EEEE Regulations for disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
Information for our customers in the UK
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations apply to electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) that have the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below.

The regulations aim to:

    * reduce waste from electrical and electronic equipment
    * encourage the separate collection of WEEE
    * encourage treatment, reuse, recovery, recycling and sound environmental disposal of WEEE
    * make producers of EEE responsible for the environmental impact of their products
    * improve the environmental performance of all those involved during the lifecycle of EEE.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. Recycling reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Customers must return their like-for-like WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled

How do I recycle my old EEE products?

Stuff-uk will take back an EEE product when you have purchased a like for like item. i.e. If you purchase a Desktop Computer we will take back your old Desktop Computer.

Alternatively you can take the goods to your local waste recycling centre, you can find that here

You can also request that we collect the goods and deliver them to a recycling centre on your behalf.

What is the Waste Batteries Regulation?

The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations came into force on 5 May 2009 establishing a new Producer Responsibility system for the collection, treatment and recycling of waste portable, industrial and automotive batteries. This follows a Europe-wide Batteries Directive laid in 2006, which aims to increase battery recycling rates across all European member states.

Stuff UK are obliged under these regulations to offer our UK customers free take-back of used portable batteries purchased from our website for the purpose of recycling.

If the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below is found on any of your battery products, it means that the product is covered by the Waste Batteries Regulation.

How do I recycle my old batteries?

     * Portable Batteries (e.g. Alkaline AAA, laptop batteries) can be returned to Stuff UK in person at

    * Portable Batteries can also be recycled at your local council site - futher information can be found here.
